Bill has extensive experience in Medical Education and Training having served as Associate Medical Director at the Department of Health and as the Medical Director for the joint UK physician colleges training board. He was post graduate Dean for the Yorkshire Deanery between 2001 and 2008.
In his clinical work, Bill spent 21 years as consultant physician with an interest in endocrinology and diabetes at Pinderfields Hospital in Yorkshire where his diabetes team won the national “Diabetes Team of the Year Award” in 1996. He was the Director if Post graduate education at Pinderfields for 10 years.
At COPMeD (Conference of Postgraduate Medical Deans) he advised the Department of Health on both appraisals for doctors and as an external expert on non consultant career doctors. He chaired numerous committees and acted as lead Dean for neurology, for academic affairs and for Paediatrics. He also represented COPMeD at the Joint Royal Colleges Postgraduate Training Board.
In his consultancy work, Bill has recently been advising the Saudi Commission for Health Services on the speciality training and regulation of doctors.
