Iain graduated as a dentist from the University of Liverpool in 1980. He obtained a LL.B and M.A.(Healthcare Law and Ethics) and worked as a dental legal adviser and obtained a mentoring qualification, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership having served as President Elect of the South Yorkshire Branch of the British Paedodontic Society.
As a dental legal advisor with Dental Protection Limited in 2001, Iain developed a Clinical Coding Programme for Dental Claims through to 2003. He Risk Assessed the Membership of DPL for their Risk Partnership Programme. During this time MPS / DPL formed a Department called Membership Governance and Iain continued to work in this Department and assessing Dental Risk Members until August 2014.
Iain has also provided dental legal advise for the East Midlands Community Dental Association – assisting in procuring new NHS Dental Practice Contracts, and advising / assisting with Clinical Governance for four years from 2004 as well as with Oral Care Consulting as a member of a team of Dentists who assisted General Dental Practitioners involved in contractual matters with their Primary Care Trusts.
As a trainer in dental regulation, Iain has been involved with Leicester College (Dental Nurse Training),University of Central Lancashire – UCLan (Dental Practice Managers Training), and the Faculty of General Dental Practice RCS – ( Dental Management and Leadership Programme Course)
Iain sat on the British Dental Association Refugee Dentist Group, and assisted in a pro bono capacity the Migrant Refugee and Community Forum (MRCF) in dealings with the Department of Health and Government Ministers relating to professional regulatory matters
Iain’s charitable work includes Healthcare delivery in Developing Countries, including as a Rotarian, furthering the humanitarian works of Rotary International.
